ed with reactions, ranging from jokes to concerns. One user playfully commented, "It’s his now, he peed on it," while another expressed worry for the animal, writing, "I want him to come down and get some water." Others asked for confirmation of the dog’s safety, with one asking, "Please tell us if you know he got down safely.
Mosher, a professional athlete who has visited Cairo several times for an annual paramotoring event organized by a local company called Sky One, was just as surprised as the online audience, he explained how the incident unfolded.
"I looked down and saw something moving. At first, I thought it was a dog, though one of the pilots thought it might be a mountain lion," Mosher recalled.
Due to safety regulations, paramotorists must maintain a distance of 328 feet from the top of the pyramids. This meant that Mosher and his team were unable to get a closer look and had to review the footage afterward to confirm that it was indeed a dog.
"We didn’t realize what it was until we checked the video later," Mosher explained.
The unusual sight left both Mosher and his team feeling a mix of amazement and concern. They tried to spot the dog again the following morning but did not see it. However, Mosher later received a video showing what appeared to be the same dog running down the side of the pyramid.
In response to the viral post, the Animal Protection Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Cairo, confirmed in the comments that the dog had safely made its way down. The foundation, which works to rescue and care for stray dogs in the area, has not yet provided further details about the incident.
Mosher noted that stray dogs are a common sight around the Pyramids, although it’s rare to see one climbing so high. "I’ve seen dogs near the pyramids before, and I once saw one trying to climb the side of a pyramid, but it didn’t get very far. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a dog on top of a pyramid," he said.
Although the dog managed to descend safely, Mosher expressed concern about the larger issue of stray dogs in Cairo’s tourist areas. He pointed out that many of these animals face challenges, such as a lack of food and water, as well as the dangers of traffic and mistreatment. "Some of them look fine, but others don’t. They’re sweet dogs who need homes, but they face many risks," he added.
Mosher, who has been thinking about adopting a dog for some time, now believes this unusual encounter might be a sign from the universe. "I’ve been wanting to get a dog for a while. Maybe seeing a dog on one of the Seven Wonders of the World is a message telling me it’s time," he said.
